A succession of impressive numbers describes the phenomenon of violence against women in Russia. Today “la Repubblica”, one of the most spread italian newspapers, publishes an important investigation about  this phenomenon, reporting also the voice of the National Center for the Prevention of Violence “Anna”. Every year in Russia about 13 million women are victims of domestic violence, and about one in four households is scenery of abuse and neglect. One of the most worrying aspects is silence:  60/70%  of  victims is not asking for help, 97%  do not report the abuse and only 3% of those who turn to the police at the end manages to get to trial. Attempts to deal with this problem through legislative interventions have been, in recent years, all ineffectives: the draft laws submitted to the State Duma in 1995 and 2007 both ended into noting useful, as well as 40 other bills elaborated on the topic in recent years. At the base there is certainly also a cultural heritage, “If he beats you, he loves you” is the terrible alibi that seems most prevalent underlying the interpretation of the facts of violence.
